Target Group
Target users are people who own and drive a car frequently. Car is a essential tool for them. They have to use it everyday for working, shopping and traveling.
Problem Description
Most people rely on cars for their daily activities. But there are a lot of cases when they can choose not to drive by carpooling with someone or taking the bus. The reality is that people still choose to drive their car because it is more convenient. The over usage of cars can have a lot of bad influences. First of all, they wasted resources . Second, they produced more carbon dioxide. And last but not least, they spent more money on gas. Coming up with a game that will encourage people to drive less will generally do good for both society and themselves.
Problem Context and Forces
It is undeniably that car is a very important transportation tool for people. But over usage of cars can really cause environmental problems and other issues. When they face the choice of drive or not to drive, people always tend to choose the first one. Couple of examples are when people have to go to the place that is four blocks away, they will probably drive instead of walking. People can take the bus and walk for 15 minutes to work, but they will probably drive instead. If people really care about the environment and saving resources, they can significantly decrease the usage of their cars.
Solution Sketch
The purpose of the game is to encourage people to drive less milage and spent less money on gas. The objective of the game is to earn challenge points and compete with other players for higher points. At beginning of each week, they will be asked to fill the milage on their car and roughly how much their paying for each gallon. They will also estimate roughly their car's miles per gallon only for the first time. And they can pick various challenges that will reward different points. An example challenge will be "Drive less milage than previous week --- 1 point". At the end of the week, they will put the milage again, and it will give a general description on how much they drove and how much they spent on gas, and what challenge they have won.
