The vocabulary exercising game

Target User Group

The major target user group of my ideal serious game is elementary school kids and middle school teenagers. This target group of users need to keep improving their vocabulary. This game can give a chance for this target group of people to develop a great vocabulary and at the same time exercise their brain and eyes.

Problem Description, Context and Forces

Teenagers need to develop and keep improving their vocabulary. There are lots of efficient way suggested by teachers to help kids to learn and memorize the new words, but most of the methods are boring. Vocabulary are extremely important in English, but the problem arise because kids normally don't want to spend time to study about the vocabulary and memorized the words, instead, most kids like to play games. If we could make a game that can help kids improve their vocabulary, that will be a great solution to solve the problem.

Solution Sketch

Here is the sketch of the game I tried to design. first, there will be couple blank space lining up in the middle of the screen. Then below the blank line we will randomly generate some letters. These generated letters are in random orders. The game player need to use these letters to form different words, player can use any number of letters without repeating. Every time that the player uses the letters to form a new word, if the word is exist in the vocabulary then the words and its definition will pop up on the top part of the screen. There will be timer to see how many words the player can form in the time period and give the player scores. I am also planing to using some cute character to decorate the interface in order to catch the kids interests. Below are a sketch I draw by hand.
