Project Report
Please post your project report on the wiki by Monday May 11th.
Your project report should contain the following sections:
- Problem statement Describe the problem you're trying to solve, who is the target community, and any contextual factors that are relevant. State any hypotheses you wanted to test, or things you hoped to learn through observation.
- Approach Explain the approach you took at high level. How does it address the problem you posed? What other options did you consider? Why was your choice the best possible given the constraints you had?
- Related Work This doesnt have to be as detailed as a research paper, but you should situate your work relative to other relevant work in your field.
- Solution Description Give an in-depth explanation of your approach. Be very clear about what you actually finished and what is left to do. Explain any implementation lessons learned as you go along. What parts of the solution were harder (or easier) than expected?
- Outcomes Discuss the main findings our outcomes of your project. If an experiment, give appropriate analysis of your data. If an implementation, explain how you tested or validated it.
- Discussion Give a synopsis of what you learned and what follows from it. What was the main contribution of your project? How well do your findings fit with the state-of-the-art of knowledge in the field? What new directions if any, do they suggest?
Your project report should be at least 6 pages, longer if there are many graphics.
Project Presentation
The project presentation should contain the content in the bullets above. Try to go beyond the content of the report, and to make it an interesting narrative. Stories and anecdotes are very effective, but make sure you keep them short.
The project presentation should also be posted on the swiki by Monday, May 11.
